Gene’s is a true example of what hard work, humility, and heart look like. As he celebrates his retirement, with his final working day on June 10, 2026, we honor not only his remarkable career, but the incredible man behind it all.
From early mornings on construction sites to late nights providing for his family, Gene McBride has spent a lifetime showing what dedication truly means. Starting his career as a young man driving a 1952 Chevrolet 12,000-gallon water truck while still in high school, Gene built his future through hard work, perseverance, and integrity.
In 2003, Gene joined Overaa Construction, where he worked his way up to Senior Superintendent, earning the respect of coworkers and crews alike through leadership, reliability, and years of unwavering commitment.
But Gene’s greatest accomplishments were never measured only by the buildings he helped create. They are found in the family he built with his loving wife, Debbie McBride, and in the countless lives he has touched through kindness, generosity, and strength. Gene is the kind of man people lean on during difficult times — always willing to help, always ready to support others, and never too busy to lend a hand.
And perhaps his favorite title of all is “Papa.” The children and grandchildren lucky enough to call him Papa know the comfort of unconditional love, steady guidance, and a grandfather who would do absolutely anything for them.
Congratulations on your retirement Gene McBride and thank you for being the kind of man this world needs more of.
Gene, we thank you for every sacrifice, every lesson, every helping hand, and every moment you gave to the people who love you most. We are proud to call you Papa, and proud to call you Dad.
