Weird Cold Remedies

CURING A SINUS HEADACHE WITH ELECTRIC EELS — The ancient Greeks believed that an aching head could be cured with a shock from an electric eel.

CURE A FEVER WITH THE OL’ ONION FOOT — In Canada and the US, some believe that placing onions on a child’s feet will draw a fever out of the body.

CURING COLD SORES WITH EAR WAX — Some North Americans believe that cold sores can be cured by applying your own ear wax to them.

CURE A COUGH BY GREASING UP YOUR FEET — Another bizarre North American folk cure for a cough involves greasing up your feet in Vick’s Vapo Rub then throwing on a pair of thick socks. Of course, Vicks does not endorse this method.

CURE MALARIA AND ARACHNOPHOBIA AT THE SAME TIME — In the UK, tablets of compressed spider’s webs were used to cure Malaria. In some cases, patients were told to eat the actual spider while it was alive!

Wynonna Oops!

The 43rd annual CMA Awards helped ABC win the TV ratings race Wednesday night. The CMAs were watched by an average of 16.8 million people over the three hour broadcast.

WYNONNA has apologized on her website for her taking at shot at TAYLOR SWIFT, who became the youngest artist ever to win the Country Music Association Awards’ Entertainer of the Year trophy. She writes on her site, “I understand that my comment … came across as a negative statement.” Before the awards, Wy said that Taylor’s nomination was “too much, too soon … Time is God’s way of keeping everything from happening at once. It’s just too much of a good thing soon … I want kids to earn it.”

… Wy says on her website: “My intent was not to take anything away from her talent and contributions to the country music industry…all of which are truly unprecedented for an artist of ANY age. … Taylor is a beautiful, hard working young woman that deserves the success she has had and I support her as an artist and as a woman in the business.”

Taylor Made Thursday

Good Morning Mother Lode!

Well, the show was great!   CMA  History was made!  It was a Taylor Made night for Taylor Swift winning all 4 catagories she was nominated for and winning Entertainer of The Year at the tender age of 19.   It was one of the best and funniest in years with Brad and Carrie sharing hosting duties and a fun appearance by Little Jimmie Dickens during a “Kanya/Taylor” spoof. Some nice surprises in the win categories tonight and some of the best live performances from the hottest stars in country music.  Zac Brown Band set the place on fire and blew the roof off with a hot rendition of ” Devil Went Down To Georgia” and Darius Rucker gets my vote for the most sincere, heartfelt acceptance speech for his Best New Artist win last night.  And did you see Kellie Pickler’s new hairdo?   Tell us what you think!

What a fun night!   Check out the rest of the winners!

On the show today we celebrate National Pizza With Everything Day (Except Anchovies)  Gross!

The mystery word of the day “Kazoo”, when you hear the word in the 7am hour, be the 3rd caller 532-9350 and be a winner!  Have a great day Mother Lode!
