Reason why you think this person should be nominated for the KKBN Goodie Award Debra Paz is my daughter, she is the best, she has two jobs, one at Jamestown school, she is teacher aid for kindergartner class, and at chicken ranch bingo, she takes care of her 3 children, 12,9,2,and her husband of 15 years, she is always helping out others, when she can, she loves kids, and is always there for them. I couldn’t ask for a better daughter, she makes me proud of her.

A Big KKBN Congrats to Kakao..our KKBN Pet Of The Week!  Check out the story behind our winner!

Kakao is a 6 year old Dutch Sheppard who is truly the best dog-friend ever! Not only is she well trained and responsive to voice commands, she is the best companion on long day hikes to the top of Sierra mountain peaks (as pictured on top of the Dardanelle’s in July, 2011). With her doggie-pack on her back, she abounds with excitement at every opportunity to hit the track!

She is obsessed with tennis balls. There isn’t a place she goes without one in her mouth, hoping to awe some sucker into playing fetch. She will run miles and leap off rocks, never tiring to fetch her catch (such as she is pictured here at Cherry Lake in June, 2011.)

Despite she has four legs, she can swim like a fish. If there’s water, combined with a stick, she will be happy for hours.  She is one dog that keeps me from being lazy and continues to love me like crazy!

Kakao is certainly one-of-a-kind and in my mind, the best dog-friend one can find!

Karen Moore is my classroom aide and is more like my team teacher.  She always goes above and beyond in her job.  Since I have taken a leave from work she has stepped up and been a tremendous help to the substitute teachers who have come in.  She not only performs her job, but she puts in her own time to grade papers or stay late to talk to teachers.  Without her things would be falling apart in the classroom right now.  She is a wonderful person and is truly dedicated to a job she loves.  I appreciate her very much!

This is Trey, he is a 25plus quarter horse gelding with a remarkable story.  
Trey was a show horse and won many ribbons and such but when he no longer could show he was sold and passed around from owner to owner.  He was sent to winton from San Diego by a seller to a lady who bought him sight unseen for a lesson horse.  He did not work out for her so she decided to give him away.   I was still recovering from a bad riding accident and I was drawn to Treys story of rejection so I went to meet him and took him home.  Through the friendship of this horse I was able to overcome my fears of riding and together we have helped heal each other.  Come to find out later after many rides that he was a halter horse in shows and was never ridden.  I think its a true test of faith and trust that  he has kept me safe on our journeys together and I could not ask for a better friend.    I hope you agree that he truely is a “miracle” sent to me.  And I would like him to be considered for amazing friend of the week!!!!

A Big 2012 Congratulations to this week’s KKBN Goodie Of The Week Award Winner: Nina Collins

My wife Nina Collins has one of the biggest hearts I know. We had a neighbor that was in a bad car accident. When she came home from the hospital she was in a hospital bed and was unable to care for herself. My wife spent months taking care of her spending nights with her so she would get her meds on time. She would bath her, help her to the bathroom whatever she needed. Nina is always helping someone, from her heart not expecting anything in return. I would like her to have this award just so she knows how much she is loved and appreciated.

I recently went there to purchase cigars for my son, Justin Hazelwood who is deployed and he just gave me cigars to send to him. His kindness brought tears to my eyes. Lambie is a miniature poodle who I rescued from the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter in So. California, 2 yrs. ago. He is the happiest, sweetest little dog, and he makes me laugh EVERY single day..He is the funniest, most expressive little thing. He has helped me through so much, and I am so grateful & thankful that HE found ME!!! I LOVE HIM.

My mom is trying her very best to take care of us. Recently my grandpa died, and my grandma moved in, so she has been taking care of all 4 of us. My mom has 3 kids, 6, 10, 14. On top of that, my mom is opening a nonprofit organization, she gives away clothes, and food, etc to people in need, and it’s called “Nancy’s Hope”. Before that, she fed the elderly and people in need at the 49er church. She currently doesn’t have a job; she got laid off by the infant center she worked at. On top of all that, at Christian Heights Church, she is a nursery teacher on Sundays, and on Wednesdays she is a K-6th teacher. She really deserves this, because she tries so hard for everyone.

Here Kitty Kitty Kitty…the first KKBN Pet of the week for 2012 is a cat named ‘ Scout”

Hello Big Joe and Bridgette, I have an 8 month  old cat named Scout. He is very sweet and cute, when I walk down the driveway from school he comes up to meet me. He comes when I call and is such a great friend. He plays with our dogs rather than the cats which is quite odd, but very cute. He also loves to come in and sleep on our chair next to the fire to warm up. He has strange paws because in addition to normal toes he has thumbs!!!Even though he is a cat, he seems to listen when you talk and even watch a movie in your lap!!!
