Goodie Award (3/31/10)

Congratulations to this weeks Good Neighbor!

I would like to nominate my daughter Kaylynn Davis for the goody of the week award. Kaylynn is in the 6th grade at Copperopolis elementary. She is a blessing to have as a child and could not be any prouder of her. She brings in A’s and B’s on her report card and is always getting principles awards, honor roll, and student of the month awards to boot. She works hard on her grades and being a team member on her volleyball team and soon track.

She is a great helper at home as well. I never have to get on her about doing her chores or her homework. I can always count on Kaylynn to make me laugh till my tummy hurts or make me smile when I have had a bad day. Even tho she is 12 she has more heart then anyone i have ever known. She is always willing to go out of her way to help someone in need. I remember one time when we went to Modesto about 2 years ago. And we stopped at a gas station and there sat a homeless man on the curb with all he owned on his back. kaylynn looked over at me and asked me “Mom why does that man have a cart and stuff on his back and why does he look so sad?” I told her that the man was down on his luck and looked like he might be homeless. She said “Oh mom that’s sad and not right”. So she asked her daddy to go with her to talk to the gentleman. ray and Kaylynn came back to the car and kaylynn grabs her wallet and goes to the trunk and gets the brand new fleece blanket she was bugging me to buy her. And she tilts her lil head to the side and says “mommy can i give the man my new blanket”? “His is ratty and tired and dirty looking and this one will keep him nice and warm”. I looked at her and said ” Its your blanket peanut”. The guy would not except any money but was very very thankful for the blanket. I was so proud of her that day. All the years that her daddy and I have taught her about being a good person and not to be selfish was sinking into her head.

Kaylynn works her lil booty off academically and at home. I hope she knows how special she is to me and everyone she comes in contact with. So please consider Kaylynn for your goody of the week award because she deserves it. Thank you.
