Goodie Of The Week

One Good Deed

Good Morning Mother Lode!

It’s time to announce the final Goodie of The Week Award Winner for 2009!

This story comes to us from James Massey of Soulsbyville.   James called the station yesterday and told me he wanted to nominate his kids Kayla, Jason and Dakota for this award.  Last year he was a security officer in Modesto and while on duty was shot in the head.  He and his family made the decision to move to Soulsbyville after his recovery and by a home.  Well hard times continued for James and his family after moving his family to the Mother Lode.  He tells me the family is losing their home.  You could hear the strain in his voice as he told me he wasn’t able to buy an presents for his kids.   His kids received $20 gift cards from Grandparents and instead of going to buy themselves something, they bought their father tools and others presents.

After hearing this story yesterday morning, I knew this was a great nominee for our final Goodie Award for 2009.  Congratulations to Kayla, Jason and Dakota for showing the real meaning of the holidays and their incredibly kind gesture for their Father James.  They win a Gift Certificate to J.S. West Ace Hardware in Sonora!

Be sure to nominate someone for today for the KKBN Goodie Award by going to our contact page and sending me an email.  Remember, it only takes on good deed to make a difference.

Have a great day Mother Lode!

The Last Tuesday of The Decade

countdown2010

Good Morning Mother Lode!

Well, it’s been 10 years since Y2K and I remember the semi – panic state the world was in at the time, thinking all computer and data storage systems would crash, causing an apocalyptic event.  Thousands of people withdrew any money they had from banks, thinking it would disappear when the clock struck midnight.  I think I had 63 dollars in the bank at the time and the only computer issue I was worried about, was not being able to check my yahoo email account.    I was not too concerned.  Y2K was a big ole nothing scare.   So here we are, on the brink of another decade and I think I still have 63 dollars in my checking account and I have way too many emails, twits and face books messages to check these days.  Something is wrong with this picture.

What has been the biggest event of the last decade?  Let us know by checking out today’s new Poll question on the right.

Bridgette’s back today!  This will be the last time I see her on a Tuesday this decade…how sad.  Hey join us for another Tuolumne Country ” Opoly” game Giveaway and remember if you don’t win yours on The Cabin , you can always buy one from The Chamber of Commerce.

We’ll get your day going at 5:30 with more fun and music on The Cabin!

Gettin’ Thin In 2010

scales

Welcome Back Mother Lode, it’s Monday!

The first Monday after Christmas, usually means things will start to quiet down a bit.  The rush of the holidays is almost over with only the parties a few of us will make this weekend to bring in 2010!  But for the most part, it’s over for 2009.

Now we face the credit card bills and extra pounds that have landed in our lives over the last couple of months.    I for one plan on losing more than a few pounds over the next several months.  I have come to the realization that I’ve done enough damage to this body of mine.  I’m already a type 2 diabetic and the only exercise I get, is getting in and out of my car to go to work, where I sit down the entire time.  Its shameful I know and now I’m ready to make a change.  I’m usually the guy here at the office that bakes the brownies and cakes and brings them into work and I’m thinking that’s how I’ll be remembered around here and that’s just something I do not want.  So, sorry co-workers, no more goodies from Big Joe or awhile!

The most recent biggest loser winner just lost 238 pounds in 7 months.  I’m shooting for 70 pounds in 6 months. I plan to track all the progress or failures (ouch) right here on the morning show blog.  It’ll be called “Gettin’ Thin In 2010″ and I’ll have Bridgette post pics of me each week, so you can all see the results!  Plus,  it would be great if you would join me in “Gettin’ Thin” and send in your pics!

Let’s have a great Monday and stay away from the donuts and left over pie!

Goodie!

One Good Deed

Good Morning Mother Lode!

It’s Wednesday and time to announce this week’s KKBN Goodie Award!

This week being Christmas I wanted to do something a little different.  I wanted to do the nominating this week.  So This week, The Award goes to The Watch Resources Program.

Here’s my nomination letter:

Dear Big Joe and Bridgette,

I’ve lived in Sonora going on 4 years and every week I see the clients of the Watch Program make their way around the community making a difference to our little town.  On occassion the folks from Watch will come to one of our live on location broadcast and they always bring with them the biggest smiles to the event.  The Watch Resources Program is a non profit organization that depends on donations and voluteers to make a difference for adults with developmental disabilities and I for one feel groups like this are priceless for the work they do year round.  So Congratulations to this weeks Goodie Of The Week, The Watch Resources Program.

Regards,

Joe Marshall
